As total darkness falls over the coast, experience a true bucket-list phenomenon. Board our boat and slide through the quiet mangrove channels into the pitch-black Bioluminescent Bay. While Puerto Rico is blessed with multiple bio bays, La Parguera offers a deeply intimate distinction: it is the only bio-bay where you are legally permitted to swim. A Living Interactive Glow: Rather than looking over the edge of a kayak, you will slip gently into the warm, dark water. The bay is alive with millions of microscopic dinoflagellates that emit a neon blue-green light whenever they are disturbed. Streams of Pixie Dust: The moment you move, your body becomes part of the ecosystem. Every wave of your arms or flutter of your feet triggers a brilliant, glowing stream of neon “pixie dust” wrapping around you. Underwater Shooting Stars: Slip on a pair of goggles to look beneath the surface. You will watch glowing streaks twist and shoot through the dark water like real-life shooting stars.
