Postojna Cave and Castle with Ljubljana starts from Maribor
What makes this tour truly unique is that it tells the complete story of Slovenia — nature, legend, and living city life, all in one perfectly balanced experience. In Postojna Cave, you don’t just walk underground — you ride a train into a hidden world of colossal chambers, shimmering formations, and millions of years of natural history. Just minutes away, Predjama Castle rises dramatically from a vertical cliff — the largest cave castle in the world. Built into living rock, it blends architecture and nature in a way found nowhere else with stories of secret tunnels, sieges, and the rebellious knight Erazem, proving that truth can be even more thrilling than fiction. The journey ends in Ljubljana, a city that surprises everyone. Small, elegant, and relaxed, its car-free old town, riverside cafés, and iconic bridges create an atmosphere that feels both historic and alive. One country. Three icons. One unforgettable experience.
Your experience
Stop 1
Step into one of the most spectacular caves on Earth. Postojna Cave is a breathtaking underground kingdom of towering stalactites, vast halls, and mysterious passages — a natural wonder that has amazed visitors for over 200 years. Stretching over 24 kilometers, Postojna Cave is one of the largest and most visited show caves in Europe. Its extraordinary formations were shaped by nature over millions of years, creating a surreal landscape that feels almost otherworldly. Your adventure begins with a ride on the world’s only cave railway, taking you deep into the heart of the cave before continuing on foot through its most impressive chambers.
Stop 2
Rising dramatically from a sheer limestone cliff, Predjama Castle is one of the most extraordinary castles in Europe. Built directly into the mouth of a cave, it looks like something out of a legend — and its history truly lives up to the scene. Predjama is the largest cave castle in the world, seamlessly blending human architecture with raw nature. Hidden tunnels, secret passages, and chambers carved into the rock tell stories of sieges, rebellion, and clever survival. The castle is famously linked to Erazem of Predjama, a rebellious knight often compared to a Robin Hood figure. During a year-long siege, he outsmarted his enemies using a secret cave passage to bring in food — until betrayal finally sealed his fate.
