Guided Mokoro Tours in the Maun Educational Park
The guide will meet you and guide you to the nearby mokoro station. There, you'll board a mokoro — a traditional canoe that was once carved from the trunk of a sausage tree, but is now made of fiber glass to protect the delta's trees. You'll glide quietly through the channels of the Okavango Delta. The guide grew up on the banks of the Okavango River in northern Botswana. Fishing and hunting were part of daily life — not recreation, but essential for putting food on the table. That same deep understanding of the delta — the hidden channels, seasonal shifts, and habits of tigerfish and bream — is what he brings to Mahango Mokoro Tours. He's not a guide who learned the delta from a manual. He's someone who grew up on it, relied on it, and knows it like few others do. He loves sharing stories about the area and what nature provides. Feel free to ask him about his adventures with hippos and crocodiles — did you know a crocodile once took a bite out of his foot?
